Diisopropyl azodicarboxylate, abbreviated as DIAD, is an important organic synthesis reagent with wide applications in organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry. It is commonly used in Mitsunobu reactions, where it synergistically interacts with triphenylphosphine to form a base for deprotonation, thereby promoting the occurrence of nucleophilic reactions. Additionally, DIAD can also serve as a selective demethylating and benzyling reagent.
