1,2-Dioleyl-3-dimethylaminopropane, or DMDMA for short, is an important cationic liposome material widely used in drug delivery, liposome, and nanocarrier construction. DMDMA consists of a dioleyl fatty chain, a glycerol backbone, and a dimethylamino group, which can promote the fusion of liposomes with the cellular membrane, thereby enhancing the uptake of intracellular substances, and when used in conjunction with other phospholipids or fat-soluble molecules, can enhance liposome stability and biocompatibility. Together with other phospholipids or lipid-soluble molecules, it can enhance the stability and biocompatibility of liposomes. At the same time, DODMA is also a commonly used non-viral vector in gene therapy. It can be protonated under an acidic environment and form stable complexes with DNA/RNA to improve delivery efficiency.
