Tris(2-carbonyloxyethyl)phosphine hydrochloride, abbreviated as TCEP hydrochloride, is a water-soluble reagent used for the selective reduction of disulfides, as well as a novel reducing and deprotecting agent for sulfhydrylated DNA. The addition of TCEP hydrochloride to DNA solution reduces the dimerization of DNA and improves the reaction efficiency after a period of time. Compared with the traditional reducing and deprotecting agents for sulfhydrylated DNA, such as mercaptoethanol or dithiothreitol (DTT), TCEP hydrochloride is more stable, less susceptible to air oxidation, and has no irritating odor.
